Sucked In

Drama is definitely starting to take over my life now. I've officially fallen entirely, head-over-heels, in love with it. This year I've had a few issues with my teacher, but they're starting to blow over. At the beginning of this year, she wasn't really encouraging, and she always had her favorite student, which wasn't ever me. But finally my moment to rise came, and I seized it with everything I've got. We had to go to a district competition earlier this month, so my partner and I put everything we had into our performance there (we did a dramatic dialogue), and pulled out with a Superior Rating, allowing us to progress onto State. The competition was amazing, our entire drama class of 18 all got Superiors, and became a big family. We all ran around the school to go see each other's performances. When Laura and I performed our scene, it was just students from our class there to watch us, so we pulled it off wonderfully.
After our Superior rating, my second chance to rise in the Drama department came. We began work on our Christmas show, which she gave me one of the parts I definitely did not want. And even though she knew and I knew that I didn't want it, I've been putting everything I've got into rehearsals, and she's started to notice. I'm definitely working to get into Advanced Production next year, so I'll just have to pull together, and work with all my might to get into the best drama class in the school.
Oh yeah, and just so you know our State Competition takes place next weekend, (I get out of school for a day and a half) down at the opposite side of the state. I'm super excited, since it's only my second over-night school trip, and this time I have roommates that I actually get along with, and know. It'll be a blast, I can't wait! And we got new blocking, that can almost ensure we get at least an excellent at state...at least I hope so. It'll be exciting though, and I can't wait!!
