Please tell me you were adopted...

So I recently got back from a trip down to the most boring place on earth, Delta Utah, home of my mom's parents. When the trip was finally over I was overcome with a realization that I have an amazing mother, who even though she was raised in boring old Delta with a VERY interesting family, she still maintained a very high amount of coolness and normalness (in a good way). First there was my lovely Grandmother who is currently losing her memory. She and my grandpa live in a VERY cluttered house, you would have to see it to believe how cluttered it is, but if she sees something of ours setting out, she gets the urge to put it away for us and then forget that she ever saw it. We lost one piano book and two pairs of glasses that way (the piano book was recovered after half an hour, but the sunglasses (including my aunt's prescription ones, were never recovered). We also had a lovely chat about her high school years where she must have mentioned how amazing her Seminary teacher was and how far from the school her church was about a dozen times. The other thing about Grandma is that she is very protective of her stuff. We were not allowed to run in the house, give piggy-back rides in the house, or throw a soft foam ball in the house, because we might knock something off her walls.
One of my other favorite people there was my Uncle Todd. He comes with the attachments of three small children and a wife who does nothing but sleep and sit in front of the computer. When he got to Grandma and Grandpa's he dumped his three children on me, and sat around and talked to his siblings for at least eight hours. I wouldn't have minded it so much, except that once I watched them for even a second they were my responsibilities for the rest of the day, and if I didn't watch them, no one would. I was super frustrated by the time the whole thing was done.
But I have to say that my favorite person of all had to be my dear cousin Jared, who is now up in Logan with me as we speak. The kid is eight years old and he's VERY annoying, and a bit of a brat (I know that sounds mean, so I'll explain). First thing, he NEVER stops asking questions. Jeff, Abby, and I would sit down to play a game and all of a sudden Jared would pop up out of nowhere to start his questions. "What are you doing?" "How do you play?" "What game is that?" "Is it fun?" And when ever he got bored with those questions he'd chime in with "Whose winning?" EVERY TEN SECONDS!!! Not at all annoying right? And he doesn't just ask them he yells, the whole time, he just yells questions and doesn't stop yelling the same question until it's answered and he can move onto a new one. And to top it all off last summer his favorite question was "What are those red things all over your face?" Which we did in fact explain to him last year. So as we sit down to a nice game of Uno, guess what pops out of his mouth: "Shaun, what are those red things all over your face?" Just as I though my face was beginning to clear up a little... I had to call up some of my friends in Utah to ask if I could hang out with them today, and then go on my date tonight just to get away from him. You can't understand him unless you've met him.
So I guess the whole point of this entry was to say that my mother is amazing, and I'm glad that she's all (well not quite) mine.

First Date!!!!!!!

I just got home (well no not really I'm at Nicole and Gary's house, but my temporary home) from my first date. It was pretty fun, and actually not that bad. I went on a blind double date with Nicole, Gary, and my sister's favorite co-worker, Janessa. It was a lot of fun. She was really nice, and she was pretty cute. It was a pretty short date, but it was still a lot of fun. We went and got some ice cream and then just sat around and talked for about half an hour. It was a very low-key date, and I think we all had a great time.

Officially 16!!!

Well I've been 16 for two days!! It's been pretty amazing. I got all sorts of new music, so I'm pretty music ADD right now, especially under the influence of Caffine Free Dr. Pepper, M&Ms, Jolly Ranchers, and Gummy Bears. I also got my liscence today!!!! We got in and out in less than an hour, which was pretty amazing. It's been really good though. I LOVE MY LIFE AS A 16-YEAR-OLD!
